Larry Warren, Nationally Renowned Health Care Executive,
Appointed CEO of Howard University Hospital


Washington, D.C., June 27, 2007 – Today, Howard University President H. Patrick Swygert announced the appointment of Larry Warren as chief executive officer of Howard University Hospital, effective August 1, 2007.

“The Howard University Board of Trustees welcomes Mr. Warren with enthusiasm and we are confident that they will lead the Health Sciences Enterprise with great skill, energy and vision,” states Chairman Addison Barry Rand. “We are fortunate to be able to attract some of the best experts in the nation in their fields,” says Martin D. Payson, chairman of the Medical Affairs Committee.

Mr. Warren will assume executive leadership over the Hospital, its clinics and the Hospital’s associated programs. His responsibilities will include overseeing the management, operations and financial affairs of the Hospital, major development opportunities, future programs and addressing community patient-care needs.

He is the former chief executive officer of the University of Michigan Hospitals. He is credited with leading University of Michigan Hospitals to exceptional financial health, increased clinical activity and outstanding customer service and patient care. The relationship between the Health Sciences and the Hospital were enhanced under Mr. Warren’s leadership. He has served in leadership roles on numerous boards including the Council of Teaching Hospitals, the Michigan Hospital Association and Eastern Michigan University Foundation. He is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University.
